I love my hands to feel all clean and soft, but lets face it, it is so expensive to go every other week. This is my “A mani please!” at home.
Ingredients:
Fine Sugar/Brown Sugar
Lemon
Wash Cloth
Large Bowl
Warm Water
Any oil
Nail Cutter
Nail File
Nail Buffer
Cuticle Remover
Cuticle Oil
Cuticle Pusher
Shampoo
Thick Hand Cream/Lotion
Cotton Pads
Nail Polish Remover
Procedure:
First, I like to fill a large bowl with warm water. Not too hot nor too cold. Add a few drops of your favorite shampoo, to create a lather. I also like to add any oil, such as coconut oil, to the water. This will hydrate your skin so much since it is absorbing the water as well. The warm water will help soften any hard skin so it is easier to remove later.
I like to soak my hands in this for about 2-3 minutes. Then, I take a few tablespoons of sugar and start to rub this all over my hands. I focus on the areas that are dry and hard. This acts as a scrub. I scrub my hands for a few minutes to really remove all that dead and dry skin. I wash my hands in the bowl of warm water and make sure all the sugar is removed.
I take the lemon and cut it in half. Rub this on your knuckles and all over your hands. The lemon will act as a brightener and lighten any dark areas you have on your hands. After this step is done, take your cuticle remover and place it on your cuticle. Push them back very gently using the cuticle pusher. Leave it on for a few seconds. Wash it well in the bowl of water.
Now you can shape your nails. Cut your nails to your desired length and then file. Try to file in one direction since going back and forth can cause the nail to chip and look very messy. Dip your hands back in the warm water and pat dry with your towel. Apply your thick hand cream/lotion very generously. Rub this in and make sure it is all absorbed into your skin. Take your cotton pads and dip it in some nail polish remover. Wipe off all the lotion from your nails. This will make any polish apply easier and stay on longer. Then, apply your polish and then head off to your cuticle oil. If you do not want to apply any nail polish, you can then just use your cuticle oil ( Sally Hansen Cuticle Oil ). You can also buff your nail for a healthy looking nail bed.
Follow these easy steps for beautiful, healthy hands and nails.
