Skincare ***EXTRA*** Routine

Sometimes when my skin is giving me its most worst I need to give it a special kind of treatment.  It can be caused by using too much makeup back to back like at wedding season.  It can also just be my hormones or the fact that I was not washing my face at night.  Any of these can lead to my worst skin which includes dryness, flakiness, acne, dullness, and extreme texture around my nose, chin, and mouth area.  I have finally come to a routine for when my skin misbehaves.  Here is how I like to tame the beast.

I usually skip this step or just use it when I have makeup on.  However, when my skin is this way I realize that pre-cleansing the skin can cause the bacteria and dirt and any impurity to be sucked out of my pores.  I like to use coconut oil for my pre-cleanse.  I have to make sure only to use a little bit because this can cause little white heads on my skin since it is a heavier oil.  I just rub this all over my dry face and it actually feels so nice.  I do this for a few minutes or until I feel that my skin is clean clean.  I leave this on and then remove it with the next step.

This step is a little complicated since I tend to use many cleansers that target different things on my face.  I first like to go in with my Biore Baking Soda Acne Scrub.  This has been my ride or die cleanser for so many months now.  It just leaves the skin refreshed and clean.  Since it has baking soda, this helps the acne and redness situation on my skin.  Then, I wash this off with warm-hot water.  This helps open up the pores so the next steps can really get rid of all the gunk.  I like to use my St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub next. I know this is a really harsh scrub but I like to mix this in with my Aveeno Positively Radiant Brightening Cleanser.  This combination will remove all the dead skin and flakiness I have going on while also giving my skin that brightness and glow it was lacking before.  This duo is so good that I might just continue using this as part of an everyday routine.  I like to keep scrubbing with this duo for quite some time.  I focus on my nose, chin, mouth area more since that is where dryness, flakiness, and dullness is at its most.  I wash this off again with warm-hot water.  Then I pat it dry.

I know we have already done this step when using the St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot scrub, but I like to add another product.  I love to use the Nip+Fab Exfoliate Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme as an exfoliation step as well.  This will help with texture and smoothing any acne left over we have.  I am so sworn to this product that I have bought these pads twice already.  I use this AM and PM because it just does wonder for my skin.  Its makes the skin seem plumper, brighter, and as if a dead layer has been removed revealing new skin which is just so flawless.  I take one pad and wipe it across my entire face.  I let this dry and then head to the next step.

I sometimes skimp on this when my skin is feeling good, but when it is awful this step really makes a difference.  I am using my Pacifica Coconut Micellar Water Cleaning Tonic as a toner.  I have realized that this somehow makes the skin balanced.  This also solves the texture problem I have since it helps tone the oily areas and also hydrates the dry ones.  I apply some to a cotton pad or round and swipe this all over my face.

This is another key step.  I am currently using The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil.  I was very skeptical about it at first but now I really love it!!  I have a review coming up soon so I won’t talk too much about this product.  It really balances out my skin and acts more like a sanitizer for my skin.  I feel as if it removes all the dirtiness and bacteria from my face leaving it super squeaky clean.  Only use a few drops which I use the dropper to dispense on the palms of my hands.  I then rub this all over my face very gently avoiding my lips and eye area.  I make sure to let this dry before heading off to my next step.

I have to, have to, have to make sure this step is done properly otherwise it can do a total 360 and make my skin worse.  I have to make sure to wash my hands because the tree oil can mix with my cream and make it react.  I didn’t know this was happening because I didn’t think it could work that way.  But I realized that some spots that were being red or break out and once I washed my hands, it stopped.  Please wash your hands in between steps.  I follow-up with my eye cream first.  I know this step is extra for some, but as I am getting older, I’m not 30 yet but still, my eyes are so dry.  I have to follow the underlay area with a hydrating cream but make sure it feels light otherwise it will cause little white bumps.  These bumps form because the cream is so heavy that it clogs your pores.  I have been using the Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb and I am in water land.  It will soften the under eye area as if it has drank a jug of water.  It feels amazing!  Next, I am using my Neutrogena HydroBoost Gel-Cream.  This does the exact same thing but for my face.  It feels so soft and hydrated.  It is super light since these both are gel based.

After all these steps, I am 100% my skin looks and feels better.  I have to keep at this morning and night for about 1-2 weeks before toning down back to my regular routine and for my skin to be back to its best.  It’s always a trial and error so somethings might work for me and not work for you.  Please try everything yourself first and make sure to trust your gut feeling because everyone has a different skin.
